The Story:
It was one of my first hunts ever. My buddy offered to take me on some of his family’s land and put me in a ladder stand overlooking a beautiful field. He came out about 9am with another buck in the field, and I got a shot on him. We tracked him for about 8 hours, then dispatched him.
What Do You Remember Most:
I remember the excitement of harvesting my first deer, but more so the feeling of being severely underprepared and the uneasy feeling that I may not recover him and promising myself to make sure I was adequately prepared with proper equipment and more experience from that moment on. I then got a proper deer rifle, an improvement from my SKS, and a scope and lots of range time.
